What characterizes us as an innovative image processing company?
At IDS, innovation is at the center of everything we do. Our disruptive thinking enables us to recognize the needs of tomorrow and design sustainable applications of the future. One of our strengths is making consumer technology usable for industrial applications.
A milestone in 2004 was the introduction of the first industrial camera with a USB interface. It laid the foundation for further pioneering developments, including AI-supported cameras that enable intelligent image analysis directly "on the edge".
Through memberships, funding projects and collaborations with start-ups, we have created a strong network that promotes the exchange of knowledge and drives the further development of the entire ecosystem.

Since our foundation in 1997, we have combined simplicity and progress to offer the best user experience in the vision market. True to our philosophy "It's so easy", we develop intuitive hardware and software. Innovation is a central component of our corporate culture.
Our open innovation process invites all employees to contribute ideas, which are discussed, validated and further developed together. The close cooperation between all areas and the intensive involvement of our customers ensure that experience and new approaches mesh seamlessly.

As a corporate partner, IDS is deeply integrated into the StartupCity Heilbronn, Germany. This platform brings together founders, investors and business partners in the economic region of Heilbronn, forming a unique network. In this dynamic environment, we promote exchange, create collaboration opportunities, and participate jointly in events such as Slush'D Startup festival or the Startup BW Summit.
German Association for Quality (DGQ)
As the central German quality association, the DGQ is the first point of contact for quality, quality management and quality assurance. Our membership enables us to constantly exchange information on current and future topics. Through the B2B marketplace visionpier, which provides many applications related to quality assurance, we have valuable synergies for joint events.
German AI Association
The German AI Association connects the most innovative AI and deep tech companies with established business and politics. With over 400 members, including IDS, it forms the largest AI network in Germany. The goal of the German AI Association is an active, successful and sustainable AI ecosystem in Germany and Europe.
bwcon
Baden-Württemberg's high-tech network, consisting of over 700 members, establishes cross-industry connections between startups, corporates and investors. In addition to educational opportunities on current trends, bwcon offers a wide range of working groups on relevant high-tech topics. This also includes the Blue Ocean Group, an innovation group of innovation managers from southern Germany, in which the IDS Business Innovation Team also participates.
BadenCampus
The platform offers high-quality innovation services for future-proof products and solutions in a dynamic ecosystem with access to expertise, new ideas and inspiring personalities. IDS learns about the latest innovations at startup pitches, engages as a mentor on site and takes part in programmes relating to AI and image processing.
VDMA
IDS is a member of VDMA (German Engineering Federation), the largest industry association in Europe with over 3100 companies represented in the capital goods industry. IDS is also active in various networks, including the Startup-Machine platform, which brings together mechanical engineering and startups.
BVMW
The German Association for Small and Medium-sized Businesses is the largest, voluntarily organised and cross-industry association of German SMEs in Germany.
Transformotive Network
As a member of the Transformotive Network, we engage in dialogue with partners from industry and research to promote innovation, identify trends at an early stage and jointly strengthen competitiveness in the Heilbronn-Franken region.

USB3 Vision
As member of the Technical Committee we are among those who promote the USB3 Vision communication standard. USB3 Vision allows an individual and universal use in machine vision applications.
GigE Vision
As member of the Technical Committee we are involved and contribute to the technical development of the GigE Vision communication standard. GigE Vision allows an individual and universal use in machine vision applications.
A3
The Association for Advancing Automation (A3) is North America’s largest automation trade group representing more than 1,100 organizations involved in robotics, AI, machine vision & imaging, motion control & motors and related automation technologies.
EMVA
The European Machine Vision Association EMVA is a non-for-profit and non-commercial association representing the Machine Vision industry in Europe.
OPC Foundation
OPC (Open Platform Communications) is the interoperability standard for the secure and reliable exchange of data in the industrial automation space and in other industries. It is platform independent and ensures the seamless flow of information among devices from multiple vendors.
UKIVA
The UK Industrial Vision Association (UKIVA) promotes the use of image processing technology by manufacturing industry in the UK. One of the most important ways in which this is done is to provide information about all the members, on a factual and uniform basis, to all enquirers.
MIPI Alliance
MIPI Alliance is a collaborative global organization serving industries that develop mobile and mobile-influenced devices. The focus of the organization is to design and promote hardware and software interfaces that simplify the integration of components built into a device.
Mikrocentrum
Mikrocentrum is a knowledge and networking organization which supports industrial companies through trainings, events and providing business information on its members. Traditionally its activities have been aimed at the Benelux, but more and more companies from other countries are joining.
JIIA
Japan Industrial Imaging Association (JIIA) is a Japan-based organization fostering technological innovation of industrial image processing. JIIA aims to implement international standards in Japan and to promote Japanese products on the global market.
Cooperation project: Robots with AI vision system play mill
"Mill" is a strategic board game for two players. To win, you have to act with foresight. This becomes particularly interesting when played by robots in combination with artificial intelligence. Four students from Kempten University of Applied Sciences took on this challenge. They developed a robotic vision system that is able to play a game of mill like a human.
An exciting project that we were happy to support as part of a product sponsorship with IDS NXT - our complete system for the use of intelligent cameras. This also resulted in an interview with Marco Ullrich, who supervised the students as a research assistant at the Institute of Production and Information Technology: “I am an engineer no software developer and I can say now that I have done image processing with AI.”
