Image acquisition in Cognex VisionPro
Acquire images in Cognex VisionPro QuickBuild from an uEye
This application note shows how to acquire images in Cognex VisionPro QuickBuild from an uEye camera.
1. Step: Download the uEye Cognex driver
Make sure to use the latest uEye driver (download: www.ueyesetup.com). Download and install the uEye Cognex driver. The driver can be downloaded here: http://en.ids-imaging.com/download-ueye-interfaces.html.
The latest driver is Cognex Vision Pro Interface V 4.41 (32-bit and 64-bit).
In IDS Camera Manager, make sure that the uEye Cognex interface has been installed correctly:
2. Step: Valid CameraID
Take care that each connected camera has got a unique CamID (1 to 254). Please refer to the IDS Camera Manager and change the CameraID if necessary with the button “Camera Information” in IDS Camera Manager.

3. Step: Start VisionPro
Run the Cognex VisionPro QuickBuild as admin. (Right-click on the Desktop-Icon --> Run as admin (see Figure 2)).
4. Step: Start in QuickBuild
In CognexVisionPro QuickBuild select the image source as shown in Figure 3 by double clicking.
5. Step: Select camera
As image acquisition device select one of the connected cameras.
Click “Initialize Image Acquisition” to set the camera properties and initialize the image acquisition.
6. Step: Select the image properties
In the register “Image properties” select as “Output Pixel Format” a valid value or leave it as “Automatic”.
7. Step: Camera settings
Set the camera settings in the register “Custom Properties”. Please take care: for a color camera select “RGBplanar” as PixelFormat (see Figure 6).

8. Step: Acquire Images
Return to the Job editor and acquire images (see Figure 6).
