IDS NXT rio is an embedded vision platform in the form of a compact industrial camera that can execute neural networks with inference times of a few milliseconds thanks to the integrated, specially developed AI core ("deep ocean core").

AI-based image processing is particularly easy to realize using the IDS NXT lighthouse training software. Thanks to features such as C-mount, serial RS232 interface and a Gigabit Ethernet network connection with RJ45 connector, which enables the camera to communicate via REST web service and OPC UA, the model is ideally suited for use in industrial environments.

The 6.41 MPix rolling shutter sensor IMX178 from Sony's STARVIS series (3088 x 2076 px px, pixel size 2.40 µm) with BSI technology ("back-side-illumination") is one of the most light-sensitive sensors in the IDS portfolio. It ensures impressive results even under very low light conditions.

The IDS NXT rio Rev.1.2 RS18064 is available in monochrome or color.

Agricultural applications

In the agricultural sector, cameras e.g. monitor plant growth, control the application of fertilisers or inspect the harvest.

Biotechnology and life sciences

Image processing can be used, for example, to analyze living organisms and biological processes - from swarm behaviour to cell division.

Embedded systemes

Typical scenarios are the use in portable systems for quality control, in diagnostics, in scanners or drones.

Factory / process automation

Cameras are used in monitoring, control, regulation and optimization systems and help e.g. with localization and selection tasks.

Food & beverage

To ensure the highest food quality - camera technology e.g. detects contaminants and helps with sorting tasks and fill level monitoring.

Logistics

Cameras are indispensable in the logistics sector - e.g. for (de-)palletizing tasks, sorting tasks or in autonomous vehicles.

Medical technology (and laboratory automation)

Image processing is indispensable in medical technology. For instance, IDS cameras provide data for diagnostic purposes in ophthalmology or dentistry.

Pharma and healthcare

By using cameras, it is possible to check e.g. whether packaging is correctly filled and printed or whether there are any impurities.

Trade

Imaging systems can be found e.g. in self-checkout systems and reverse vending machines and provide support for shelf inspection.
