Introduction

These release notes describe the changes to the IDS Software Suite 4.93. This version extends the functionality of some camera models.

New and changed functions

Enhanced binning functionality for models with Sony sensors

In the camera families uEye SE USB 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 3 uEye CP Rev. 2, the following models support both horizontal and vertical binning:

  • UI-300x
  • UI-304x
  • UI-306x
  • UI-307x
  • UI-308x
  • UI-309x
  • UI-320x
  • UI-326x
  • UI-327x
  • UI-328x
  • UI-329x
  • UI-386x
  • UI-388x

On monochrome models it is possible to set vertical and horizontal binning independently of each other.

For colour sensors, vertical binning can only be set together with horizontal binning. However, horizontal binning can be set individually.

Additive binning is used for all models, which increases the image brightness.

Increased frame rate with subsampling

For the following models in the camera families uEye SE USB 3.1 Gen 1, USB 3 uEye CP Rev. 2, GigE uEye CP Rev. 2, GigE uEye FA, GigE uEye SE Rev. 4, the frame rate increases for vertical subsampling with a factor of 2 or larger:

  • UI-300x

Subsampling for uEye LE USB 3.1 Gen 1

In the uEye LE USB 3.1 Gen 1 camera family, the following models support subsampling:

  • UI-304xLE
  • UI-327xLE

Autofocus extended for models with active focus

From version 4.93 on, the camera models with active focus, e.g. uEye LE USB 3.1 Gen 1 AF, support continuous autofocus in addition to the one-time autofocus. This makes it even easier to adapt to varying working distances.

Function "is_Measure" extended

The is_Measure() function has been extended with new methods for sharpness measurement.

The existing structure MEASURE_SHARPNESS_AOI_INFO is replaced by the new structure MEASURE_SHARPNESS_INFO that also contains a parameter for the start address of the image buffer to be used for the calculation.

It is recommended to use the new structure MEASURE_SHARPNESS_INFO. The existing structure MEASURE_SHARPNESS_AOI_INFO is marked as "deprecated", but it can still be used for downward compatibility reasons.

General improvements

  • UI-1007XS: Fixed a bug that caused a wrong color image when writing internal registers.

Known issues

  • In IDS line scan, the GigE uEye CP Rev. 2 models may lose a line between two images with a pixel clock > 60 MHz.
