Release Notes IDS NXT 4.0
Introduction
These release notes describe the new features and changes in the IDS NXT 4.0 release. This release updates the following components:

IDS NXT cockpit 4.0
This version of the IDS NXT cockpit supports Windows 10 64-bit (version 22H2) and Windows 11 64-bit (version 22H2).
IDS NXT cockpit 4.0.1
General improvements
- Graphical revision of the GPIO setting for setting the logical value.
- Adaptation of the dashboard in the "Trigger" display element to the trigger behavior of the IDS NXT malibu.
Bug fixes
- An error could mean that the connection to the camera could not be automatically re-established after changing the IP address. This error has been fixed.
- IDS NXT rio and IDS NXT rome: An error caused the IDS NXT cockpit to crash when the sensor ROI was set to minimum values. This bug has been fixed.
IDS NXT cockpit 4.0.0
New and changed functions
The IDS NXT cockpit 4.0 supports IDS NXT malibu cameras.
You find the specific features of the IDS NXT malibu in the IDS NXT cockpit under Settings:
- Camera: In the "Internal image processing" area, you define the image processing tasks that are performed directly on the camera, such as video noise filters or color adjustments.
- Streaming: Here, you configure the streams and enable RTSP streaming.
- Interfaces: Here, you configure the GPIO interface of the camera.
- Privacy (alpha): The privacy mode allows to blur people in the image and to blur static areas using ROIs. This feature is in the development phase and is offered for testing purposes.
Vision apps
Classifier 4.0.0
- The vision app Classifier 4.0 only supports IDS NXT malibu cameras. For IDS NXT rio and IDS NXT rome, use the vision app Classifier 3.1.
Object Detector 4.0.0
- The vision app Object Detector 4.0 only supports IDS NXT malibu cameras. For IDS NXT rio and IDS NXT rome, use the vision app Object Detector 3.1.
OPC UA Server
4.0.1
- The UserIdentityTokens for authentication have been extended. This supports compatibility with other OPC UA clients, such as the OPC UA client from CODESYS.
4.0.0
- The vision app only supports IDS NXT rio and IDS NXT rome cameras.
- You can use a camera output to signal when the result nodes of a vision app are updated.

| Classifier | Nets with attention maps | It was noticed that in certain cases classification results differ significantly, which is likely due to the different net architectures. If you use nets with attention maps, you may get different results compared to nets without attention maps. These differences occur because different net architectures are used for training. For serial application, we recommend to use nets without attention maps. |
| OPC UA Server | New installation of a vision app | After reinstalling a vision app, it may be necessary to call the "PrepareRecipe" method twice to enable the corresponding recipe. Alternatively, after reinstalling a vision app, it is recommended to start it once initially. |
| IDS NXT Vision App Creator | Update of the IDS NXT Vision App Creator | After an update, the setting of the alternative "Source Folder" for projects must be reset. |
| IDS NXT Vision App Creator | Update the virtual machine | During the update, the virtual machine is deleted and replaced by a new one. Before updating, you must manually back up files that you have stored in the previous virtual machine and want to use further. |
