IDS case study: Intelligently navigated, safely inspected
Inspecting critical infrastructure with the help of intelligent drones
Regularly inspecting energy plants, bridges, and other critical infrastructure is essential for ensuring their safety and long-term functionality. Drones, also known as uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs), are revolutionizing this field by making inspections more efficient, safer, and more precise. Thanks to their flexibility, drones can even reach areas that are difficult to access from the air and provide high-resolution images and sensor data.
One of the biggest challenges is the precise navigation of the drone relative to the object being inspected. The Control of Networked Systems research group at the University of Klagenfurt has designed a real-time capable drone that uses artificial intelligence for object-relative navigation. On board: a USB3 Vision industrial camera from the uEye LE family by IDS.
Our new application report explaints what challenges modern UAV technologies can overcome and the advantages they offer for your inspection processes.
