Capture fast movements at low data rates with event-based sensor technology
Accurately capturing and analyzing fast motion is a challenge. While high-speed cameras with high sensor resolution and high frame rates provide detailed information, they generate enormous amounts of data that must be stored, transmitted and processed. But there are other ways to capture motion information - more efficiently and with significantly less data!
A new sensor technology, inspired by nature and in particular the human brain, follows precisely this approach. Instead of generating a flood of redundant image information, this technology focuses exclusively on what is actually changing. The result: highly accurate motion information with a drastically reduced amount of data. This opens up completely new possibilities, especially in applications where speed and efficiency are of the essence.
