IDS case study: Precise to the point
3D image processing solution with 2D cameras, AI and robotics optimizes the manufacturing landscape
The manufacturing industry is currently facing a number of challenges. Technological change, pressing environmental issues and globalization require adjustments, such as investing in new technologies, conserving resources and optimizing and securing supply chains. Automation through robotics has become the driving force here, artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly taking on a key role. In order to map production processes in one's own company with AI, the simplest possible integration and the shortening of training phases are decisive factors. The British start-up Cambrian Robotics Ltd meets this need with a solution based on 3D vision technology with AI.
The intelligent vision system for various robotics applications in manufacturing ensures greater efficiency in assembly tasks or warehouse logistics. It is used for fast bin picking and pick-and-place, the precise feeding of parts for machines as well as various work steps in material handling. Cambrian Vision consists of a module for robot arms, a computer unit with intelligent software and a camera module, each equipped with two uEye+ XCP cameras from IDS.
