Double-digit growth again for IDS in 2015
Industrial camera manufacturer IDS Imaging Development Systems has far exceeded the 10 % growth for the industrial machine vision sector in 2015, which was predicted by VDMA. With a jump in sales of 17 %, IDS has once more surpassed all market expectations.
The positive volume of orders and the two-figure growth of the international business indicate further double-digit growth is likely in 2016 for the industrial camera manufacturer from Obersulm.
Last year IDS reinforced its international presence by opening two new subsidiaries in the Netherlands and South Korea and was able to achieve in Asia an increase in sales of 17 % compared to the previous year. „In our sales activities we will continue to put increased focus on the international markets“, explains technical managing director Daniel Seiler. In Tokyo, IDS recently moved to larger office space and recruited new employees. A similar development extends across the entire company: in October the number of employees increased to more than 200. To keep pace with the rise in staff numbers and the extra production capacities required, a new building with a total of 1,700 square metres additional space was acquired in May at the company’s premises in Obersulm.
Effective July 1st, 2015 the management board was increased with the appointment of Daniel Seiler. The graduate engineer is responsible for R&D and Production and has been involved in IDS’ development for 10 years. Daniel Seiler knows the challenges engendered by the above-average growth: „At our headquarters, we are creating the capacities and infrastructure for the coming years. New, additional assembly lines keep abreast of the increasing demand for high quality IDS cameras ‘made in Germany’. Almost exactly ten years after releasing the first uEye USB 2.0 industrial camera, IDS delivered the 500,000th camera last year. The production of the millionth camera is expected to be soon.
In the VISION year of 2016, new IDS cameras with state-of-the-art CMOS technology will complement the existing product portfolio. One example is the USB 3 uEye CP camera series with high-speed sensors from onsemi and Sony.
All new industrial camera models will also be available at the IDS online shop “IDS Direct”. IDS webstore customers from Germany, Austria, France, Great Britain, Ireland and the Scandinavian countries have the opportunity to get information on different camera models, to compare them and to order 24/7.
