18 megapixel cameras set to foil criminals

Acumé Forensic, a company based in Leeds (England), is renowned for its evidential identification services, which are used to solve a wide range of crimes, from murder and armed robbery to fraud.

Most of the images they use for suspect identification are of poor quality – making the process unnecessarily complicated. In collaboration with the chair in Visual Computing at the University of Bradford, the British forensic experts have now developed a system for 3D identification of possible suspects. “Halo” is equipped with three particularly powerful UI-3590LE-C-HQ cameras with 18 megapixel sensors to ensure that no detail is missed when identifying potential perpetrators.
