Installing FALCON/EAGLE board

Scroll Previous Top Next More

This section describes how to install the FALCON/EAGLE frame grabber in your PC. First of all, switch off your computer before installing a FALCON/EAGLE. In order to prevent any destruction of electronic components on your board, please touch the PC housing. Doing this, existing static charge will be discharged. The installation of the FALCON/EAGLE is very easy. Please proceed as following:

1.Turn off the computer and remove the power cord. In computers with ATX motherboards the PCI bus still remains under charge. Installing or removing the board in this state can result in the destruction of the motherboard and/or the FALCON/EAGLE. Wait a few minutes before installing the frame grabber.

2.Open the computer by removing the fixing screws.

3.Remove the blank metal plate from a PCI slot which is not in use.

4.Plug the FALCON/EAGLE in to a free PCI slot. Pay attention that the card is plugged in to the front part of the slot. Additionally, ensure yourself that your FALCON/EAGLE doesn’t touch other electronic components of the PC.

5.Fix the card‘s slot cover into place with a screw.

6.Make sure that the card is correctly installed in its slot.

7.Connect the 12 V power supply of the PC with the EAGLE to supply the cameras with power via the EAGLE.

8.Replace the computer’s cover.

9.Connect the video source to the BNC, CHINCH or S-VHS connector and/or to external video extension boards (optionally available) of the FALCON. With EAGLE connect the video source and the digital input/output to the Hirose sockets

The FALCON/FALCON Express and FALCON LP/FALCON LP Express can have up to three video sources connected to it: 2 composite video inputs to CHINCH and one S-Video input. To connect a S-Video source use the 4-pin MiniDin socket (Hosiden socket) on the slot plate of the FALCON/FALCON Express. To connect a video source with a composite video signal use the CHINCH socket of the frame grabber.

FALCONplus/FALCONplus Express can have up to four video sources via BNC connectors.

FALCONquattro/FALCONquattro Express also have four BNC connectors each. Using an external extension board up to 16 video sources can be connected to FALCONquattro/FALCONquattro Express.

The EAGLE frame grabber can have four video sources: either composite or S-Video connected to it. For this there are four 12-pin Hirose sockets available at the extension board.
