Tab: Color format
The FALCON/EAGLE supports common color formats to save and display images. The 32 bit mode should only be used, if the VGA card does not support 24 bit color mode. We recommend the 24 bit RGB mode for true color applications. Satisfactory results in true color can only be achieved with a 4 MB VGA card. For many applications Hi-Color mode with 15 or 16 bit is a good compromise between image quality and low VGA card costs.
The Y8 mode is normally used for monochrome applications. For the independent display of video images with a VGA card the "Device Independent Bitmap" flag is used. This flag has the result that in indirect display mode, Windows itself carries out the tasks of image display, color calculation, scaling, palette selection etc.
This display method is universal and should work everywhere, but can be slow under certain conditions.
